1 kg hard boiling potatoes, Salt, 4 matjes fillets, 2 apples, 1 large onion, 3 gherkins (or pickled gherkins), 200 ml beef broth, 4 tblsp. white wine vinegar, Pepper, freshly-milled, 100 g streaky bacon, thinly sliced, 2 tblsp. oil, 1 tblsp. chopped chives
